Lisa Wolfe and I joined Tom Whelan at AGM today at noon. Conditions were
not ideal, not to much wind but temp in the upper 50s and mostly
cloudy/overcast.

We checked the usual spots for elfins, but saw no butterflies. Not many
flowers yet, and many plants still not showing any fresh leaves.

After dropping Lisa off at home, I joined Tom at HPM about 1:30. Conditions
were about the same. Checking on the lower plateau near the power lines,
where the bearberry and low bush blueberry were starting to bloom, we saw:

2 Brown Elfin

From there, we went to the top of the hill, but did not see any other
butterflies. Tom had to leave, but I went to the summit where I saw a deer,
but still no butterflies. On the way down, though, I saw:

1 American Lady

I did meet a young couple, Mike and Megan, at the summit, who were also
looking for butterflies. It sounded like they might be joining the next
Myles Standish State Forest field trip with Blake Dinius.

I plan to return to HPM tomorrow, when the conditions are expected to be
better.
