Our research is based in the PNW so we only supply tags to interested peopl=
e in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia.

I suggest contacting MonarchAlert (http://monarchalert.calpoly.edu/)

who run a tagging program within California

Hello, David
=20
I am a participant on the Western Monarchs yahoo group. I am a Master Garde=
ner in Placer County, California about an hour north of Sacramento. We have=
a group of "Mariposa Mamas" who have pollinator gardens at home and provid=
e information to our organization, as well as educating the public about pr=
oviding plants to support pollinators. We have several in our group who hav=
e rescued monarch "cats" and raised them to release. We have been trying to=
locate tags, so we can monitor where our babies travel, but have been unsu=
ccessful. We seem to be in an area that does not fit the parameters of orga=
nizations that provide tagging materials.
=20
Do you have any information or contacts that I could reach out to about whe=
re to find tags for central California monarchs?
=20
Thank you

Evidence that fall migrants from the PNW are approaching the San Francisco =
area was gained this week with the sighting of an Elkton, Oregon tagged Mon=
arch at Jenner about an hour north of SF on the coast. This follows sightin=
gs of two other Elkton-tagged Monarchs at Grants Pass, OR and Brookings, OR=
.
