I am working at a fire camp 20 miles east of the Canyonville OR exit on I5. Ithinnk it is about MP 96. We have 100s of CA tortoiseshells on our recently watered roads. I saw one or two on Sunday, dozens yesterday, and hundreds today.

Thank you Jackie--I had never seen a California Tortoiseshell before. Based on your post I went to the nearest coastal bluff park here in Mendocino County and immediately found two in the parking lot. One seemed to be claiming that area as it's territory. Found four maybe five after a short walk.
