I felt a need to get back to the arboretum here in Raleigh right after the
State Fair has closed (yesterday), and before the next cold front
(tomorrow, but chilly weather not due until Wednesday). Here is what I had
from 1:15 - 1:45 this afternoon (Oct. 23), under mostly cloudy and mild,
but windy, conditions:

Pipevine Swallowtail 3 fresh and quite active, probably all males
Cloudless Sulphur 3
Sleepy Orange 1
Gulf Fritillary 1 worn
Variegated Fritillary 1
American Lady 4 best numbers in many months here; new brood
Painted Lady 9
Monarch 6 more than I've seen in a while here; flight late this year
Common Checkered-Skipper 3
Clouded Skipper 2
Fiery Skipper 10
Ocola Skipper 3

Guess I'm not going to see a Long-tailed Skipper here this year. Glad I
went down to Fort Fisher a few weeks ago; there are plenty of them near the
coast this fall.
