Greetings All:

I spent an hour and a half at Kirby Lake (Abilene - Taylor County) on 30
October 2017 and was surprised at the butterfly diversity and numbers (134
individuals across 32 species). It should also be borne in mind that
butterflies were not my principle interest (I was mostly chasing birds) and
might well have overlooked a few. The bugs that most surprised me are in
*bold.*

2 Hayhurst's Scallopwings
2 Common Checkered Skippers
2 Orange Skipperlings
3 Clouded Skippers
6 Sachems
7 Eufala Skippers
1 Orange Sulphur
6 Southern Dogfaces
1 Cloudless Sulphur
11 Little Yellows
4 Mexican Yellows
15 Sleepy Oranges
5 Dainty Sulphurs
2 Gray Hairstreaks
2 Western Pygmy Blues
1 Reakirt's Blue

*2 Fatal Metalmarks*
