Everyone:=C2=A0 I appreciate all the help folks have contributed to my requ=
ests for certain requests for records. Thanks to Brett Badeaux and Robert G=
orman, we now have two County records for Becker's Whites. I was shocked wh=
en I checked the Orange County book by Larry Orsak and found no records for=
Pontia sisymbrii or beckerii for that county.
=C2=A0=C2=A0 There are some real shockers in updating Emmel & Emmel's 1973 =
book. The update paper I did in 2004 went 23 pages and I had it written and=
published in a week in the Taxonomic Report.=C2=A0 I'm about 3 weeks into =
this one and so far I have maybe 120 pages. They aren't numbered so I can't=
really say and I'm constantly scrolling in added information. I've put in =
taxonomic notes into the manuscript for every names change that was covered=
in Systematics of Western North American Butterflies which was a huge and =
daunting tasks.=C2=A0 I've got all species and subspecies started along wit=
h a rarely recorded or questionable records section and a huge reference se=
ction.=C2=A0 I have put in all records of special representative interest f=
rom the annual season summaries from 1975-2017 and am now working in person=
al records.=C2=A0=C2=A0 The biggest shocker is the claim stability comes fi=
rst and foremost. The biggest part of this paper is from taxonomic notes ex=
plaining names changes, revisions and descriptions of new subspecies.or sta=
tus changes since 1973.=C2=A0 I have not numbered species past #124 so can'=
t say how many species I have on the main list yet.=C2=A0 But in butterfly =
science, taxonomic issues are ever evolving and needing updates. One exampl=
e was in the 1973 book by Emmel & Emmel (1973) it was believed Silver-Spott=
ed Skippers were essentially in the San Bernardino Mountains and there were=
possible records for San Diego County.=C2=A0 Scott Miller from the Santa B=
arbara Museum that shared data from their Museum that had more records for =
several counties and there are more since Miller's great one+ page article =
in 1974 o thereabouts.=C2=A0 Or how about Comstock's Blue known only from a=
type series collected in 1918 and went unseen until 1974?=C2=A0 Now it is =
one of the commonest butterflies in the southern Sierras!=C2=A0 Many segreg=
ates turned out to be new species or subspecies, others went into the trash=
can and new species have been discovered in the Emmel' defination of south=
ern California.=C2=A0Best Wishes, Ken Davenport <kdavenport93306...> o=
