To fellow MassLep readers:
In response to Steve Moore's s post: I was thinking it was just me or my lo=
cation (butterfly scarcity), but my gardens are unusually quiet in spite of=
ample nectar sources.=C2=A0
Following yesterday's (6/27) field trip--previously reported--I came home a=
nd found one Silver-spotted Skipper and one very fresh Great Spangled Friti=
llary on Purple Milkweed at about 3 p.m. When I looked for them 30 minutes =
later, they were nowhere to be found.
Today I didn't notice any butterflies in the yard at all, but I found a nea=
rly-ready-to-pupate Black Swallowtail caterpillar on dill.
