Hi,

Today at Mass Audubon Boston Nature Center, from 11:50-1:30, I saw the
following butterflies:
8 Red Admiral
1 Monarch
5 Little Wood-Satyr
3 Silver-spotted Skipper
12 Cabbage White (including a mating pair)
2 Orange Sulphur
1 Clouded Sulphur
1 Summer Azure
2 Skipper sp.

Most of the butterflies were seen in the smaller field near the Fox Trail,
and no butterflies were seen in the butterfly garden, although there are
good nectar sources there. Flowers blooming in the large field near the
entrance are purple vetch, clover, masses of bird-foot trefoil, yarrow,
daisy fleabane, dock and milkweed, to name a few, but only the sulfurs and
a Cabbage White were flying there. Also, the large clump of dozens of
milkweed stems blooming at the back of the large field was covered in bees,
but only the Monarch was circling that area.

Sunny, 77-82 degrees

Lucy Merrill-Hills
Roslindale, Ma
