Hi Linda,
It is fine to have an egg on the pod, I've had caterpillars eat the green p=
ods (especially when pods are small).=C2=A0 No you don't have to cut a whol=
e plant, you can cut off single leaves, or a stem if the plant is small, an=
d as long as you keep it in water (for leaves just the end of the stem shou=
ld be in just a little bit of water) and cut off a bit every couple of days=
with a sharp knife, milkweed will stay fresh for a number of days.
I'll e-mail you instructions for raising Monarchs and be totally available =
to answer any questions that you have.

I've had monarchs cruising my milkweed all week and have found 4 or 5 eggs =
so far. This morning an egg was laid on an unopened pod.=C2=A0 Is there any=
