Inspired by Garry Kessler's recent post to Mass Leps, Lucy Merrill Hills an=
d I decided to drive up to Concord NH to the Karner Blue Easement to celebr=
ate my birthday today. (It's only a little over 1 hour and 10 min from my h=
ouse in Georgetown) What a fun day we had!

The very first butterfly we saw was a Karner Blue. We ended the trip with a=
pair of mated Karner Blues as we were leaving. In between, a Karner Blue =
landed on Lucy's pants and then on her hand. We also saw a Karner Blue whi=
ch appeared to be ovipositing at the base of a wild Lupine. 9:15 am -1:15=
pm Mostly sunny and 68-86 degrees

Complete list below although we're not certain on the 2 Skippers we saw, bu=
t that's par for the course. Also we saw multiple Duskywings - both Juvena=
ls' and we believe Horace's, however, not certain the exact count of each.

Karner Blue 17 (6 females, 10 males and 1 not certain which sex)
American Copper 10
Common Wood Nymph 3
White Admiral 1 (FOY)
Duskywings (both Juvenal's and Horace's - total of 15)
Coral Hairstreak 3 (FOY and another fun surprise)
Silver Spotted Skipper 1
Monarch 2
American Lady 1
Ladys unknown 2
Red Spotted Purple 1
Gray Hairstreak 1 (FOY)
unknown skipper - probably Dun
Large unknown skipper - more elongated and at least 1 inch - plain yellow o=
n ventral. I was able to get quick photos of ventral and part of dorsal whi=
ch I will post on the Masslep Facebook page for help with ID.
