Folks,
Yesterday I was surveying reptile tins at the Needmore Gamelands (near
Brush Creek) in Swain County. It was cool (low 60s) and overcast, but at
least the wind wasn't blowing. Here are the butterflies I encountered
during the survey:

Eastern Tiger Swallowtail - 4
Spicebush Swallowtail - 2
West Virginia White - 2 (worn)
Red-banded Hairstreak - 7
Eastern Tailed-blue - 2
Azure spp. - 4
Pearl Crescent - 5
Silvery Checkerspot - 1
Carolina Satyr - 8
Little Wood-satyr - 2 (fresh)
Silver-spotted Skipper - 5
Juvenal's Duskywing - 7
Duskywing spp. - 4
Zabulon Skipper - 5

Cheers,
Jason Love
Otto, NC
