Chris,
The range maps in the book are complete only as of *June 2021* (page 42). There was way too much lag time between when I wrote species accounts and Derb Carter created the county maps, and when the book* finally* got published -- May 2024.
The range map on the Whirlabout PDF on the Butterflies of North Carolina website:
Butterflies of North Carolina (ncparks.gov) <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://auth1.dpr.ncparks.gov/nbnc/a/accounts.= php?acctID=3D142__;!!OToaGQ!ujD0GbdhERyMuo_C0i9soYHpuiJ-JGc35mF2ILZFKHne0_3= rE8EQVd9mpqB0Jg_Sj-LisqhM3yGYR3A287nOWA$ >
*does* show a black dot for Laurens County, SC. These PDF dot maps are complete through the end of the previous year -- i.e., December 2023.
Many people probably download the entire Approximation PDF each year to have all of the county dot maps (for NC or SC or both) together in one document. NOTE: The color NC county maps on the website are now being updated almost monthly, so the color maps of NC are hopefully correct through about August 2024. Jeff Pippen and Tom Howard have been uploading your NC carolinaleps sightings monthly now to the big database, and I have been gleaning new county records from iNaturalist about monthly as well.
