Hi All,
Kevin Metcalf and I spent several hours yesterday looking for butterflies a= nd other critters in Madison County along River Road and Polecat Road. Our = target species was Cobweb Skipper. It was a gorgeous day and should be peak= flight period but we saw only one (quite fresh). Our list is below. We had= a pretty nice total of 24 species, especially when we didn=E2=80=99t focus= entirely on butterflies.=20
Pipevine ST - 4 Spicebush ST - 2 Zebra ST - 4 E Tiger ST - 12 West Virginia White - 5 Cabbage White - 1 Falcate Orangetip - 5 (only 1 female) Juniper Hairstreak - 1 White-M Hairstreak - 1 worn Red-banded Hairstreak - 3 Brown Elfin - 2 ETB - 10 Azure sp (spring?) - 6 Pearl Crescent - 6 American Lady - 1 Gemmed Satyr - 8 SSS - 4 N Cloudywing - 1 Sleepy Duskywing - many! 50+ Dreamy Duskywing - many but less than Sleepy. 25+ Juvenal=E2=80=99s Duskywing - several Duskywing sp - many=E2=80=A6 we didn=E2=80=99t check them all! COBWEB SKIPPER - 1 Pepper-and-Salt Skipper - 1 Common Roadside Skipper - 1
