Guilford County - Jamestown
Yesterday I observed the first Monarch which was a female visiting all the milkweed in the area. I have been seeing many Satyrs in the woods and along the trails near the vernal pond and the frog pond. After the survey today, I spent more time in the area tracking and waiting for them to land to identify more of the Satyrs. I was able to identify 3 Gemmed Satyrs which is the most I have ever seen at one time. The Zebra Swallowtails are also very numerous this year. There is Pawpaw and Blue Star, which they nectar on, all along the river and the drainage areas on the property.

1 Zebra Swallowtail 1 Red-banded Hairstreak 4 Pearl Crescents 1 Eastern Tailed-Blue 1 Sachem
4-19
1 Monarch 2 Zebra Swallowtails 1 Spicebush Swallowtail 6 Pearl Crescents 2 Carolina Satyrs 2 Eastern Tailed-Blues 2 Juvenal's Duskywing 1 Sachem
