During a HCAS bird walk this morning, on the MST in Deep Gap just above the parkway, in an area with large amounts of Black Cohosh, there was a good sized Azure which might possibly have been an Appalachian Azure. I say that only because the Butterflies of NC website shows the flight period of Spring Azure almost over and the flight period of Summer Azure just barely starting. I don't have any local knowledge about the actual flight periods at this site, so would appreciate any input. The only views were with closed wings and pictures came out poor. Guy McGrane, Boone NC |
