Subject: [MassLep] Amherst elfin

Howdy leppers,

Not having made it to Montague or Ashburnham this year, I hadn=E2=80=99t se=
en any elfins yet, until today. I was walking our dog near Amethyst Brook, =
along the edge of the adjacent farm field, when I spotted a little brown jo=
b fluttering overhead. It landed too high up in a tree for photos, but with=
binoculars it was recognizable as a Pine Elfin, my FOY. Looked a bit tatte=
red. A minute later, I saw a Red-Spotted Purple (Admiral) which landed for =
a split-second in the same tree before flying off.

Cheers,

Josh
