A group of 5 of us went out on the Field Trip today at the Peter Oliver
House/Picone Farm in Middleboro, MA. It was very sunny and the temps were
probably in the low 80's most of the time we were out.

This location continues to stump me. Last year's field trip there was
pretty bad. Knowing this, I was able to get permission from the
Conservation Commission to continue the walk over at the Nemasket River
Village Archaeological Preserve if needed. It wasn't "needed" but a few of
us went over there anyways.

At the Peter Oliver house, we saw:

20+ Clouded Sulphurs (including a mating pair)
1 Baltimore Checkerspot
10+ Least Skippers
2 Spicebush Swallowtails
2 Red Admiral Caterpillars
1 Monarch Caterpillar

At the Nemasket River Village Archaeological Preserve (we only spent about
45 minutes here) we saw:

8 Cabbage Whites
7 Long Dash
3 European Skippers
3 Least Skippers
2 Peck's Skippers
1 Baltimore Checkerspot
3 Viceroy Caterpillars

Overall it was a good field trip, even with the low (but awesome)
attendance.

Andrew Griffith
