Guilford County - Jamestown

This morning Ann Walter-Fromson and I spent several hours looking at the
different species of mountain mint in bloom and observing butterflies.
Around 10 a Juniper Hairstreak showed up in the area with Rattlesnake
Master, and Ann was able to get a picture which is included with the other
pictures. Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning we received almost 5
inches of rain, but the butterfly activity has bounced back. Today the
Gray and Red-banded Hairstreaks were abundant all nectaring on mountain
mint. Monday of this week, I observed a Gray Hairstreak ovipositing on
Stylosanthes biflora, Pencil Flower, in a power line right of way. Tuesday
I observed the first Silvery Checkered Spot of the year
