A very good day for butterflies, and a surprising one for us. Lisa and I stayed home today, and we saw:
1 Dion Skipper 1 Banded Hairstreak 1 Wild Indigo Duskywing 3 Black Swallowtail (1m and 2f, both ovipositing on fennel) 2 Monarch (2f, ovipositing) 1 Spicebush Swallowtail (f, ovipositing on spicebush) 1 Red Admiral 1 American Lady 2 Cabbage White
total: 9 species, 13 individuals
Thank you to the people who responded to the call for ID on the Dion; we had no idea it would be possible to see one in Arlington. I posted it on iNaturalist (https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/295791888) if anyone wishes to confirm the ID.
