Today in Arlington, Lisa and I saw:
2 Black Swallowtail F (both ovipositing on fennel) 1 Silver Spotted Skipper 1 Summer Azure 1 Eastern Tailed-blue 3 Cabbage White
We went to HPM in the morning for about an hour and a half. We skipped the ridge trail and summit, going up the steep rocky trail and then took the lower trail over to descend via the gravel trail.
Good thing that Lisa was with me, as she pointed out that many of the plants I thought were New Jersey Tea are actually meadowsweet. However, she did confirm that there are still quite a few NJ tea plants, many of them still flowering. The milkweed plants we saw were mostly done flowering, however.
We saw:
1 Delaware Skipper 3 Coral Hairstreak 1 Orange Sulphur 2 Clouded Sulphur 7 American Copper 1 Wild Indigo Duskywing 5 Northern Broken Dash 2 Spicebush Swallowtail 1 American Lady 2 Summer Azure
10 species, 25 individuals
