Otherwise, they would be sickly by now. The drought continues here, with no rain since Aug. 14 and so much sun that things are drying fast. Great butterflying weather for about 18 days in a row but without showers to get new butterflies eclosing, most of them are worn or at least not fresh. Not surprisingly, things are bland there, despite lots of numbers (of Fieries). Here is what I had for an hour at midday under a blazing sun and 78 degree temps: Pipevine Swallowtail 5 E.
