Santee Coastal Reserve. Charleston County, SC. Cape Trail: walked 1.2 miles each way. (note this trail is closed Nov. 1- Feb. 7) October 31, 2025. 9:30 am -12:20 pm Dennis and Wendy Allen Pipevine Swallowtail (worn female) 1 Cloudless Sulphur 5 Little Yellow 6 Sleepy Orange 6 Gulf Fritillary 8 unidentified Polygonia sp. (Question Mark or Eastern Comma) 1 Common Buckeye 18 Monarch 1 Long-tailed Skipper 15 Broad-winged Skipper 1 Ocola Skipper 35 Most butterflies were nectaring on an unidentified mint along the main road close to the parking area closest to the maintenance yard. The Monarch and Pipevine Swallowtail were on Goldenrod along the dike. The Polygonia sp. was in and out of Spanish Moss on a Live Oak. |
