Warm, 75 degrees, in the low Appalachian mountain Nature Conservancy area, Blue Wall Preserve, in Greenville County, SC. The 3 mile out and back trail rises from 1100' ASL at Vaughan Creek to over 1300' at the second pond on the northeastern flank of 3209' Hoback Mountain. This is where I photographed South Carolina's first recorded Appalachian Tiger Swallowtails, near Vaughan Creek, about 10 years ago.
