Out of curiosity, I checked iNaturalist for possible SC records. INat has no=
t yet accepted the species, so I entered Celastrina and South Carolina. I s=
aw at least 2 records of males in April 2026 with open wings to see a medium=
blue, seemingly without the white veins of the Summer Azure. One was in Aik=
en County. I am not proficient in copy and paste on my iPhone, but it would b=
ehoove folks to check these out on iNat. One or both show the almost white=
underside ground color with few dots. I suspect these and a few others fro=
m the central to SW part of SC in April to be this species. =20

It is not known =46rom NC and I have never seen top side male photos in Apri=
l in the state outside the mountains with these solid blue colors, and so in=
April in the southern part of NC all fresh ones should now be second brood S=
ummer, as Holly ought to be worn or finished.=20

Harry LeGrand =3D the other Harry!

PS =E2=80=94If verified or at least possibly Iryna=E2=80=99s, reviewers/vett=
ers should add their comments, even if the records seem to be only documente=
d to Celastrina species for now. I am not sure how iNat staff go back into t=
he database once iNat DOES accept any new species, so that the species level=
records get changed to the full species name. Thoughts on that??
