Harry P and others,

I was a bit confused by the "April 27" date you mentioned, when the photo
that Salman linked:

https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/77309140

was taken on April 30, in 2021.

But, I do see that you HAVE confirmed it as an Iryna's Azure. Great news
for us Tar Heels! Here are the comments you posted there:

"Bingo, Iryna's Azure! That elongated wing scale is a certainty, in
combination with a nearly pure white underside. Great find for North
Carolina!"

So, as I am the primary author of the Butterflies of North Carolina
website, *I will write a species account for Iryna's Azure tonight or
tomorrow. * I will certainly add Ken's record to the database, with
Mecklenburg to show in green. We WILL want and need one to several photos
on the species page, but that doesn't have to be tomorrow. Hopefully, we
can get Ken's permission to have the two photos (one ventral and the
detailed dorsal) on the website. AND -- we certainly can use some photos
taken in SC. Thus, if you do have photos of this newly described species,
please send them to Tom Howard (<tom.howard...>) for posting to our
site (as SC does not have a similar website for viewing photos). I will
add in the text the known SC counties, from what Harry Pavulaan has stated
above and in his published paper. Once I finish the text, you can click on
the PDF and see the text and the map with a black dot for Mecklenburg, but
I am not sure how we (Tom and I) can get the handful of SC counties to show
on the PDF map just yet.

*Tom -- would it be possible for the webpage PDF to show black dots for the
SC counties soon, once I complete the account and have a listing of the SC
counties in the text? That would be nice for us to have a visual of the
known range in the Carolinas immediately, and not have to wait until the
end of the year.*

Harry L (the other Harry)

PS -- This ups the NC species total to 178. Of course, we would love to
have first records for previously existing species nearby, particularly
Bell's Roadside-Skipper, or Bronze Copper, etc. Or a Florida or Midwestern
stray.
