Nice finds Matthew. We need to butterfly together some time.
I have been at Sassafrass a few times, but usually I go to Blue Wall
Preserve on the northeast flank of 3212' Hogback Mountain in Greenville
County near home. Butterflied there many dozens of times and hiked to or
near the mountain top over a dozen times. I'm pretty sure I have recorded
Orange Sulphur, Red-spotted Purple, Silvery Checkerspot, Pearl Crescent,
and Juvenal=E2=80=99s Duskywing many times. Not sure about Painted Lady. =
Red-spotted
Purple, Pearl Crescent, and Juvenal=E2=80=99s Duskywing (early spring) have=
been
among the most common species.
