Folks,
Yesterday (19 May 2026) I spent a little over an hour at the Welch Farm,
which is owned by Mainspring Conservation Trust. The tract consists of a
mix of bottomland farmland, oxbow wetlands, and a healthy belt of riparian
forest alongside the Valley River. Here is what I found:

Tiger Swallowtails (looked like both Eastern and Appalachian STs were
flying, but hard to tell them apart as none of them landed for closer
looks): 10
Spicebush Swallowtail: 2
Orange Sulphur: 1
Cabbage White: 4
Eastern-tailed Blue: 1
Summer Azure <https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/363186999>: 25 (some
puddling in the gravel bars by the river)
Northern Pearly-eye <https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/363076386>: 4
Pearly-eye spp: 4
Carolina Satyr: 16
Silvery Checkerspot: 4
Variegated Fritillary: 1
Great Spangled Fritillary: 1
Silver-spotted Skipper: 8
Clouded Skipper: 1
Zabulon Skipper <https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/363187181>: 4

Cheers,
Jason Love
