Almost no purple-red thistle along this stretch of road. High density of
yellow composites, especially Black-eyed Susan and at least two species of
rosinweed-like Silphium which attracted most crescents and Horace's Duskywings
as well as Variegated Fritillary, broken-dashes, all skipper species, and
American Lady. Butterflyweed was attended by Monarch and all swallowtail
species although most were in flight. Our focus was on New Jersey Tea where we
found all of the hairstreaks, Summer Azure, several Byssus Skippers
