Subject: Little Yellow at Mt. Jeff OL of BRP

Very surprising was a Little Yellow at Mt. Jefferson Overlook on the
Blue Ridge Parkway in Ashe/Wilkes County today. NOTE: the bug was ID'd
by size and color alone, without binoculars or camera at a distance of
about 8-10 feet, too far to see the little black spots. It was MUCH
smaller than the many Orange and Clouded Sulphurs I've been seeing
around lately, but noticeably bigger than the several Summer Azures
around today. There's only one previous record for Ashe Co. Also, at
Tompkins Knob Overlook (Wilkes/Ashe), there may have been another, it
looked too small for the Sulphurs, but was a quick flyover that never
landed for any view.

Others seen in the area:

ETS 10+

Pipevine Swallowtail 1

Summer Azure 5

Meadow Frit 2

Great Spangled Frit 10+ (ID'd several definitely, assuming all rest were
GSF)

Common Buckeye 1

Silver Spotted Skipper 1

ALSO, on May 29, in Wilkes Co near McGrady, at 2000'elevation (piedmont)

Little Wood Satyr 1 (First I've seen in that area)

Guy (McGrane, Boone NC)
