Santee Delta East. Georgetown County, SC. Walked the 1 mile long CBMP route (survey #3). June 3, 2026. 12:50- 2:30 pm. Full sun. 79F. Dennis and Wendy Allen.
Black Swallowtail 1 (female) Gulf Fritillary 5 (FOY) Variegated Fritillary 3 Pearl Crescent 10 Common Buckeye 3 Red-spotted Purple 1 Viceroy 3 Monarch 1 Silver-spotted Skipper 1 Zarucco Duskywing 1 (female) Tropical Checkered-Skipper 2 (males) Clouded Skipper 1 Least Skipper 1 Fiery Skipper 4 Rare Skipper 1 Broad-winged Skipper 15
Pickerelweed attracted all Broad-winged, Least, Clouded, Silver-spotted, and Rare Skippers. Black Swallowtail was on Honeysuckle. Gulf Fritillarys, some Fiery Skippers, Zarucco Duskywing, and some Pearl Crescents were on Vervain. Others not observed nectaring. Pickerelweed numbers estimated at 1000 on May 20 were down to about 50 today. Elderberry, a few passion flowers, and the first rosinweed flowers were among the other bloomers.
