I went back to Sedge Meadow in Wayland this morning for about an hour and
saw:

1 Bronze Copper
2 Cabbage White
4 Peck's Skipper
2 Tawny-edged Skipper
2 Sulphur (sp)
1 Ringlet
2 European Skipper

A handful of unidentified grass skippers, plus something big and orange but
not a monarch, and it flew by too fast to ID: maybe a Great Spangled
Fritillary?

This location used to be considered quite good for butterflies, until about
10-12 years ago, after which it seems to disappear from the Masslep record.
Though today didn't yield as many species or individuals as my first couple
of trips, I did see a Bronze Copper.

The Wayland conservation commission has done a great job of rehabilitating
this property as a habitat for birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
