Harmon Den, Haywood County 6/17/26 (12:30 am-5:15 pm) =20 My target butterfly was a male Diana Fritillary, which I searched for all d= ay without success. The meadows in Harmon Den are being overrun with invasives= like Autumn Olive, Velvet Grass, Multiflora Rose, etc. It can=E2=80=99t be= good for our insects.) =20 I had called it quits when I got a wild hair and turned up a dirt road I=E2= =80=99d never explored behind the big parking lot off the main gravel road.= I drove a ways and found nothing until I hit a sunny spot and saw two male= Dianas in the road. Hooray! They were gorgeous but quite uncooperative at = letting me get as close as I wanted to stare and photograph them.=20 =20 In my experience, it seems like I can get pretty lucky for Dianas driving u= p a forested gravel road at the end of the day. Anyone else notice this?=20 =20 Cheers,=20 Heather Rayburn Asheville =20 =20 (In bloom: Pointed-leaved Tick-Trefoil; Black-eyed Susans, NJ Tea, Annual F= leabane, Flowering Spurge, Rhododendron, Blue-eyed Grass) =20 Pipevine Swallowtail, 2 Eastern Tiger Swallowtail, 3 Orange Sulphur, 2 Sulphur sp., 3 Cabbage White, 3 Gray Hairstreak, 1 Summer Azure, 27 Eastern Tailed-Blue, 12 Monarch, 4 DIANA FRITILLARY <https://www.flickr.com/photos/190206870@N03/55350658604/i= n/datetaken/> males, 2 (super fresh!)
