Hi all,
I wanted to send out a reminder about the trip I am leading to Mountain Meadow in Williamstown this Saturday (6/27) at 10 AM. We will meet at the Mason Street parking lot in Williamstown, then walk the mowed paths along the edges of the Meadow Trail (~1 mile round trip, a little bit of elevation gain to get up there), butterflying, birding, and botanizing along the way. The weather looks nice and sunny on Saturday morning and Mountain Meadow is a lovely, biodiverse place, so I hope you will join us!
There is also the option to walk up to the "mountain" part of Mountain Meadow if folks are interested in a small hike (~500 ft elevation gain total) and the chance at seeing some interior forest butterflies like Mourning Cloak, Eastern Comma, etc... We may also stop at Field Farm afterwards (roughly 10 min drive) for another quick loop around the meadow and as a place to eat a packed lunch, if you've brought one.
Please reach out to me through email (<paul.seaman048...>) or by text message (978-471-2802) if you plan attending so I can know how many folks to expect, or if you have any questions.
Here is the trip description as posted on the club website:
Saturday, June 27, 10 am Mountain Meadow Preserve in Williamstown
We will walk about a mile along mowed paths through fields of Milkweed, Bergamot, Dogbane, Joe-pye weed, Golden Rod and New England Asters. We might find Monarchs, assorted Skippers, Wood Nymphs, Pearl Crescents, Swallowtails and Sulphurs. Meet at parking lot off of Mason Street. (From the intersection of Rts. 2 and 7 in Williamstown, take Rt. 7 north for 1.7 mi. Bear right onto Mason St. (steep dirt road uphill) and follow to entrance and parking (10 cars)). Some places may be wet so waterproof shoes are a good idea. Bring water and lunch.
Thanks!
