Santee Delta East, Georgetown County. Walked one mile on the impoundment dike. Carolina Butterfly Monitoring Program survey #7 July 16, 2026. 11:04-11:48 am. Sunny, 91 F. Dennis Allen Gulf Fritillary 11 Pearl Crescent 6 Viceroy 1 Silver-spotted Skipper 8 Horace's Duskywing 1 White Checkered-Skipper 1 Clouded Skipper 5 Least Skipper 1 Fiery Skipper 1 Rare Skipper 1 Broad-winged Skipper 2 unidentified grass skippers 2 Little nectar was present. River-side wetlands were dry. Only Pickerelweed in bloom was at the edge of the water. All skipper species and Horace's Duskywing were on Pickerelweed except White Checkered-Skipper which was on the grass. Gulf Fritillary were on Vervain and on/around Passion-flower where a few caterpillars were seen. 2 Clouded Skippers were on the first of the Cutleaf Coneflowers to bloom. |
