Arlene (my wife) found and photographed a Checkered White very near Mt.
Jefferson Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway this afternoon. Only a 3rd
record for that county, see iNat checklist here
<https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/385781140>. Pipevine
Swallowtails were everywhere up there, likely more than 50 seen on a 10
mile stretch of the parkway, which was in 3 counties: Watauga, Wilkes,
and Ashe. Many were landing directly on the parkway and appeared lethargic.
