Subject: Butterflies in Dare Co, NC mainland today Aug 15th

Hey Butterfliers


Coolest day of the week with winds out of the N and NE with average temp =
84F &amp; cloud cover varying from 25-90%. Most butterfliers pick sunny =
and hot days but I guess I'm just a slacker. Flies and mosquitos weren't =
bad which was surprising and delightful.


1. 0852-1012 Lake Worth Rd off 264 had only one active area around a small=
patch of Saltmarsh Mallow where I saw most of the skippers

2. 1025-1225 Pamlico Rd off 264; hottest nectar source was the Devil's =
Walking Stick flowers;plenty of Bitterweed but the Chinese Bushclover not =
in full bloom yet

CAROLINA ROADSIDE-SKIPPER 2 was the highlight (both on the Devil's Walking =
Stick at eye level and above, in 1st quarter mile) FOY


3. 1258-1320 Dare Bombing Area Whipping Creek Rd (not very active so =
left)
