--000000000000f49bb8065a311947 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Good morning butterfliers, Yesterday, Laurie Hamon, Lori Arent, and I ran a Carolinas Butterfly Monitoring Program survey at Shocco Creek Game Land in Franklin County around 10 am. After the survey, Lori and I poked around the rest of the game land to pick up incidentals since it was warmer and sunnier in the afternoon. The power lines were absolutely packed with nectar (Silphium, Eutrochium, Coreopsis, Helianthus, Rudbeckia, Cirsium, Conoclinum, Solidago, Bidens, etc), helping us get good numbers of butterflies with 29 species and 500+ individuals, but grass skippers were in surprisingly short supply. The find of the day, however, was a *Laura's Clubtail <https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/395368892> *that Lori found, a fantastic find for the eastern Piedmont, the second Franklin County record ever, and the first since 1973 (Thank you for the info, Harry!).
