Santee Delta East, Georgetown County, SC. CBMP survey #10. Walked the 1-mile route on a dike adjacent to the North Santee River. August 30, 2026. 10:07 - 11:43 am. Partly sunny, 82F. Dennis Allen Cloudless Sulphur 22 Sleepy Orange 1 Gray Hairstreak 1 Red-banded Hairstreak 9 unidentified hairstreaks 2 Gulf Fritillary 21 Pearl Crescent 5 Silver-spotted Skipper 1 Horace's Duskywing 2 unidentified duskywings 2 Least Skipper 1 Fiery Skipper 1 Rare Skipper 1 Salt Marsh Skipper 1 Due to heavy overnight rain, all vegetation were very wet and fiddler crabs were scurrying among puddles on the roadbed. Almost all hairstreaks, most of the Gulf Fritillarys, all duskywings, Silver-spotted Skipper, and Fiery Skipper were on Cutleaf Coneflower, which was the only abundant large flower. Cloudless Sulphurs were mostly on the move but seen on Cutleaf Coneflower and mallow flowers. Other Gulf Fritillarys were around or ovipositing on Passion Vine or nectaring on Vervain. Rare Skipper was on one of the few Pickerelweeds in bloom. Other species were settled on unidentified green vegetation. Mosquitos and grasshoppers were abundant |
