Subject: Re: Duplin County, NC butterflies-Sunday, 8/30/2026

I see from the website that Checkered White is a first Duplin record in deca=
des, as the other record was from a county atlas with no data other than the=
species and county.=20

Lots of them around the state in recent months after about two decades of ve=
ry few records. That species and Painted Lady are MUCH more widespread in th=
e state than in recent years.=20

e county list. I made 4 stops, revisiting three of yesterday's stops. I don'=
t believe any of the 27 species I saw on Sunday are Duplin County records, b=
ut I did add a FOY Long-tailed Skipper. The combined list for both Saturday a=
nd Sunday is 31 species. The list below is a combined list of all four stops=
on Sunday.. Good butterflying.
