Very surprising were 3 Gemmed Satyrs in the woods near Tompkins Knob today, 2 in Watauga Co., where there are only a couple previous records, and another just across the Wilkes border. The ones in Watauga were up near 4000 ft elevation. See full list below. Almost all other butterflies seen in open meadows.
