Santee Delta East, Georgetown County, SC. CBMP survey #11. walked the 1-mile route along the dike separating the South Santee River and a managed impoundment. September 16, 2026. sunny and 82F Dennis Allen Palamedes Swallowtail 1 Cloudless Sulphur 113 Sleepy Orange 12 Red-banded Hairstreak 77 unidentified hairstreaks 7 Gulf Fritillary 62 Pearl Crescent 1 Common Buckeye 16 Red-spotted Purple 1 (very worn) Monarch 1 Long-tailed Skipper 1 Clouded Skipper 3 Fiery Skipper 2 Whirlabout 1 Ocola Skipper 28 unidentified dark skippers 2 Cloudless Sulphurs and most Gulf Fritillaries were on or around large purple morning-glory (Ipomoeca sp.). Almost all Red-banded Hairstreaks and many Gulf Fritillaries, Common Buckeyes, and Palamedes Swallowtails were on or around Cutleaf Coneflower which after several weeks of attracting very few pollinators had flowers that were being well-utilized. Ocola Skippers which have been uncommon until now were only on Cutleaf Coneflowers as were most other skippers. Some Pickerelweed, small blue aster, Eupatorium spp., and 'climbing milkweed', but not being visited. |
