Hobcaw Barony. Georgetown County, SC. Crab Haul Road, Walked about 75 yards along shoulder with dense Southern Crownbeard growth. September 20, 2026. 10:30 - 11:00 am. Clear, 80 F. Dennis Allen Cloudless Sulphur 8 Gray Hairstreak 3 Gulf Fritillary 10 Pearl Crescent 5 Red Admiral 1 Common Buckeye 2 Long-tailed Skipper 2 Zarucco Duskywing 4 Swarthy Skipper 1 Clouded Skipper 5 Fiery Skipper 1 Whirlabout 1 Dun Skipper 3 Salt Marsh Skipper 3 Ocola Skipper 1 First look at an area which is dominated by Southern Crownbeard; it flowers during the last half of September. Estimated the 10% of the buds have flowered so far. All species were moving among flowers and apparently finding nectar. |
