Cutleaf Coneflower continues to dominate and is probably at its peak. Most
nectaring butterflies including all of the skippers except the checkered
skippers were on or around it. Most Goldenrod is flowering and attracting
mostly hairstreaks. Cloudless Sulphurs were mostly on Pievine (morning glory).
Gulf Fritillaries were mostly on Vervain. Viceroys and checkered skippers were
not nectaring. Climbing Hempvine, Trumpet Vine, Japanese Honeysuckle, small
blue asters, and Eupatorium were in flower but no butterfly activity. Only one
flowering Pickerelweed plant was observed.
