I have been making a stop at the edge of a pasture along Ansonville Road wh= ere a small patch of Verbena brasiliensis attracts Common Buckeyes, Variega= ted Fritillaries, Fiery Skippers, and a Checkered Skipper or 2. When I stop= ped yesterday afternoon the skies were sunny and clear but the wind was blo= wing at 15 mph or more so the Verbena was swaying with the wind. Suddenly = a Long-tailed Skipper, my first of 2026, appeared at the top of the Verbena= . It took me 10 minutes or more to get a photo. Recently I have enjoyed many hours looking for Dotted and Meske's Skippers = on wonderful nectar plants with no sign of a Long-tailed Skipper. Perhaps = this one was delivered to me by Isaias.
