Folks,

I made my likely last visit to the arboretum here in Wake County, though I
suppose it still might be floriferous next week as well. I was there from
noon to 12:50 today, under clear skies (day after day), low humidity, and
temps from 68-70. Thankfully, there were abundant nectar sources, with
some beds of non-native asters finally in bloom, to go along with several
beds of Lantana and some Zinnias and low butterfly-bushes. Staff have been
watering plants, and have only weeded out plants that have finished
blooming. I dodged several groups of schoolkids and found the following:

Pipevine Swallowtail 3
Sleepy Orange 5
Cloudless Sulphur 5
Cabbage White 6
Monarch 2
Variegated Fritillary 1
Common Buckeye 1 only 4 brushfoot individuals!
Common Checkered-Skipper 18
Fiery Skipper 20
Sachem 1 very worn male; quite rare this late
Eufala Skipper 1 rather worn; scarce by late Oct.
Clouded Skipper 8
Ocola Skipper 1
