Subject: What's Up? Frenetic butterflies at top of my Water Oak Trees

There are a couple of dozen small or medium size butterflies swirling
around and chasing each other at the tops of two of my 70' Water Oak
trees. I noticed them from my deck at 6:25 pm and watched then for over 20
minutes. They're about 100' away in the setting sun, and I can't
distinguish color or pattern. I'm near the top of the second highest hill,
about 1200', in Spartanburg County near the NC border.
What am I seeing?
