I worked the field area at the NC Museum of Art in Raleigh this afternoon.
There is still some red clover in bloom, but most is finished blooming. A
few exotic thistles were catching a lot of butterflies, esp. the Tiger
Swallowtails. Disappointing for true butterflies other than Buckeyes, but
things don't get cranked up around here until August anyway. Field area
getting quite dry now -- no rain in a while.

E. Tiger Swallowtail 14
Orange Sulphur 1 tons of Medicago here, assuming it is a hostplant, but
not sure. This species was common here last fall; between broods?
Cloudless Sulphur 1
E. Tailed-Blue 8
Variegated Fritillary 1
Pearl Crescent 3
Common Buckeye 25
American Lady 3
Silver-spotted Skipper 8
Horace's Duskywing 3
Common Checkered-Skipper 3
Clouded Skipper 1
Fiery Skipper whatever =E2=80=A6 I'll put down 40 -- tired of them already=
, and
summer is just beginning!
Sachem 3 very worn
