Nice day - mostly sunny and 77 degrees. Butterflies 10 individuals in 2
hours!! If you don't think the world is coming to an end, you haven't
been looking for butterflies in Eastern Massachusetts.

Breakneck Hill Reservation, Southborough, Ma 11am to 12:25pm:

Cabbage White - 1

Common Ringlet - 1

Common Wood Nymph - 1

Monarch - 4

Unidentified large dark butterfly (either a dark swallowtail or
red-spotted admiral - too far away to id) - 1

Assabet River at Boundary Street, Marlborough 1:30pm

A lot of Joe Pye-Weed and Loosestrife but no butterflies

Quabbin Aquaduct on Robin Hill Road, Marlborough 1:45pm to 2:10pm

Clouded Sulphur - 1

Little Glassywing - 1

Usually at this time of year this area produces many Cabbage Whites,
Clouded and Orangwe Sulphurs, Wild Indigo Duskywings and other species.
Hopefully just an off year.
