My apologies if this comes twice - I sent to wrong email address first go-r=
ound.

It was difficult to find toxicity values for milkweed, but two sources had =
a little information, mostly due to effects on range animals. From CO. St=
ate University: Milkweeds are most toxic during rapid growth retaining tox=
icity even when dried in hay. Toxicity varies with species and growing con=
ditions, and should be considered potentially poisonous, especially narrow-=
leaf species, including A curassavica, tropical milkweed. Eastern whorled =
milkweed (A verticillata) is neurotoxic.The USDA Agricultural Research Serv=
ice cites the same information. Milkweed referred to in both sites indicat=
e these grow in the mid-west and west. Since one of the main corridors is =
in the mid-west, there should be some toxic varieties on that migration rou=
te.=20=20

No sites I visited mentions toxicity of milkweed for Monarchs.

At CBS symposium several years ago, a list of Carolina Milkweeds was distr=
ibuted, but of 22 listed, only 5 are familiar to me.=20=20=20
