CORRECTION of cudweed name:=C2=A0 =C2=A0In an article by Art Shapiro, the n=
ame of the plant is Gnaphalium chilense, that also is names Pseudognaphaliu=
m stramineum from research on the internet.=C2=A0 =C2=A0This plant is a nat=
ive of California.=C2=A0 Calscape lists lots of different cudweeds as possi=
ble hosts for the American Lady. but Pseudognaphalium stramineum or gnaphal=
ium chilense is the only one that Art Shapiro notes.=C2=A0 =C2=A0 This may =
be the cudweed of the Davis area and not the one in SF, but for the time be=
ing I am taking his word for it.=C2=A0 Glad to hear that many butterflies a=
re expanding their menu selections.=C2=A0 =C2=A0 Here is the link to the ar=
ticle: https://www.academia.edu/27370326/The_Californian_urban_butterfly_fa=
una_is_dependent_on_alien_plants

All discoveries and research begin with a question, an idea, a conjecture,=
a theory, an opinion. Otherwise we wouldn't=C2=A0 have science or be anywh=
ere else.=C2=A0 =C2=A0So it is up to you to do your own research about bree=
ding times and host plants for the American Lady or any other butterfly in =
your area. I am not implying that you have not done any research.

Houston, we have liftoff.=C2=A0 =C2=A0Released one American Lady today, wi=
th 3 to go.=C2=A0 =C2=A0Very rewarding experience.=C2=A0 I plan to cultivat=
e the Chilean cudweed in my yard and not feel guilty now because it is a na=
tive plant.=C2=A0 =C2=A0It would not have made a difference anyway.=C2=A0 I=
hope for more American Ladies.

I am leaving this group because my research is taking me elsewhere.
